About The Event

ADDRESSING RACIAL RECONCILATION AND THE CHURCH –  The IMAGO DEI for all. This 8-week study will consist of two parts starting Sundays, January 16th. We will provide lunch each week. The first 2 – 3hr sessions called PATH (Positive Action Toward Healing), a 4 part exploration of how personally we address Christ’s example. Facilitated by a Christian therapist, these sessions will have diverse ethinic participation, exploring our self-awareness, examples of Jesus, Theology & History, and Next Steps. Path stands for Positive Actions Toward Healing. PATH is a Biblically based discipleship model in racial reconciliation which helps groups start the journey of living as a Christian in a racialized society. The PATH facilitates healing by developing self -awareness, empathy and compassion, and a safe platform to share our stories so we can have healthy discussions which lead to change in our cultural environments. The last 6 weeks will be a Sunday 1.5 hr weekly study called Color of Compromise: The Truth about the American Church’s Complicity in Racism by Jemar Tisby. Resources will include study book and access to a 12 part video series. Color of Compromise book is optional. Color of Compromise is an acclaimed, timely, narrative of how people of faith have historically --up to the present day—worked against racial justice. And a call for urgent action by all Christians today in response. This call challenges all Christians. Weekly we will cover 2 chapters (or two 15-20 minute videos). Meetings will focus on study questions, assuming chapters read or videos watched prior to meeting. You can sign up for just PATH or both PATH and Color of Compromise. PATH requires commitment to first 2 Sundays.
